Client Guidelines
Lactation visits are available by appointment only. To schedule please email us at mkondrat@dragonflylactation.com or text us at 865-268-3970.
Appointments must be cancelled within 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time or you will be subjected to a $50 no show fee.
In order to verify your insurance plan an appointment will need to be scheduled. Once the proper documents are submitted, please allow at least 24 hours for the verification process to take place. This time frame does not include weekends and holidays. If you would like to check your insurance coverage you can call you specific carrier and ask “Do I have in-network coverage for lactation services under CPT code S9443 (lactation class) with diagnosis Z39.1, billed as professional services (not facility)?”
It is your responsibility to find out what your specific insurance plan covers. We may be "in network" with your insurance, but that does not mean lactation support is a covered service.
Per The Affordable Care Act (ACA), it covers most lactation visits without cost sharing, but not all. Some plans treat baby-related visits or medically complex care as non-preventive, which may result in a bill(s).
Because Dragonfly Lactation is part of a group practice, our practice name may not appear as in-network when you search using our individual NPI.
We use a billing model called supervisory billing. This means that an overseeing provider who is in-network with your insurance submits the claim for your visit—similar to how a medical office bills insurance when you see a nurse practitioner or physician assistant instead of the physician directly.
This allows you to receive care from Dragonfly Lactation while still using your insurance benefits. If you have questions about coverage or would like help understanding your benefits, we’re always happy to guide you.
Cash, Credit, and FSA/HSA accounts are accepted for self pay clients.
If your insurance will not participate with one of our billing partners, a superbill may be generated for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
